FAQ

What is Apepak® and what is it used for?

Apepak® is a reusable food wrap made from organic cotton, beeswax, jojoba oil and natural resin. It is used to store fruit, vegetables, bread, cheese and other foods in a healthy, natural and plastic-free way. Thanks to the antibacterial properties of its ingredients, it keeps food fresh for longer, both in and out of the fridge.

Yes, Apepak® is designed to replace plastic cling film, aluminium foil and disposable bags. It is washable, reusable for up to a year and fully compostable at the end of its life, thereby reducing the use of single-use plastic and household waste.

Simply warm the wrap slightly in your hands to make it pliable, then wrap the food or cover a container. Once cooled, the beeswax retains its shape and seals the food naturally. After use, wash it with cold water and natural soap, dry it and reuse it.

Apepak® has an average lifespan of around one year, depending on how often and how it is used. After this period, it can be disposed of as organic waste or composted, or reused as an eco-friendly firelighter.

Apepak® is ideal for fruit, vegetables, bread, mature cheeses and baked goods. It is not recommended for meat, fish or food that is still hot. To ensure safe storage, it is important that the food is always cold before being wrapped.

Yes, all the ingredients are certified organic and safe for food contact. Beeswax and jojoba oil have natural antimicrobial properties and have been used for centuries to preserve food.

Wash Apepak® by hand using cold water and a little natural soap. Do not use hot water, a dishwasher or abrasive sponges, as these may damage the wax. After washing, leave it to air-dry before using it again.

Yes, when it is no longer usable, Apepak® can be cut into small pieces and disposed of in the organic waste bin or in home compost. It is made entirely from natural, biodegradable materials.

Choosing Apepak® means reducing waste, protecting the environment and supporting an ethical economy. Each sheet helps eliminate up to 400 metres of plastic film per year and supports Italian organic beekeepers from the CONAPI-Mielizia Consortium.
